Compliance

CRA letters, handled.

Reassessments, audits, HST elections, voluntary disclosures, missed instalments — we handle the CRA so you don't have to. Send us the letter, the notice, or just the question in your head, and we'll tell you what it means and what to do.

Already a client? Forward the letter to danny@nikacpa.ca — we’ll review and reply within one business day.

What we handle

  • CRA notices and correspondence — translated and answered
  • Reassessments and Notices of Determination, with response strategy
  • HST elections (S.156, ITC apportionment) and Income Tax Act rollover elections (S.85, S.86)
  • Voluntary Disclosures Program filings (late or unreported income)
  • T1 adjustments (T1-ADJ) for prior-year errors or missed credits
  • CRA Representative Authorization (AUT-01) so we can speak for you
  • Pre-assessment review and audit support
  • Instalment planning and remittance calendars — never miss a date

Common situations

Most compliance work starts with one of these. None of them are the end of the world — they just need someone who knows what to do, doing it on time.

Got a CRA letter you don't understand

Most are routine — we'll tell you which ones are and which ones need real action. Either way, we draft and send the response.

Got reassessed and disagree

We review the basis for the reassessment, gather supporting documentation, and file a Notice of Objection within the 90-day window.

Behind on filing or missed income

The Voluntary Disclosures Program can eliminate penalties (and much of the interest) if you come forward before CRA reaches out — after that, the relief shrinks sharply. We assess which tier you qualify for and file the disclosure.

Need an HST election

Section 156 (closely-related corporations), Section 167 (sale of a business), ITC apportionment for mixed-use assets — we prepare and file the elections that protect your position.

Under audit or pre-assessment review

We act as your representative end-to-end: respond to information requests, organize records, attend meetings, and negotiate where it helps.

How it works

1

Send us what you got

Forward the CRA letter, the reassessment notice, or whatever's keeping you up at night. We'll review and tell you what it actually means.

2

We map the response

A CPA reviews your file, identifies the right path — objection, adjustment, election, voluntary disclosure — and walks you through it before we act.

3

We file, follow up, and close it out

We prepare the response, submit it, and stay on the file until CRA confirms. You get updates, not silence.

CRA deadlines move fast

Objection windows are typically 90 days from the date on the notice. Voluntary disclosure relief comes in tiers, and the generous one goes to people who apply before CRA reaches out. Once CRA has contacted you about the issue, the relief shrinks sharply. If the envelope has a date on it, send it now — don't wait to “have time” to read it.
